Coldstream Bluestone Limestone – the latest arrival
Bluestone Limestone pavers are the latest tiles to arrive at Cave The Home of Stone. Called Coldstream, the new pavers join our popular Travertine and Limestone collection and are available in a wide range of sizes as well as a 1.2 pattern set.
With a non-slip surface, salt resistance and durable nature, our Coldstream range is perfect for indoor and outdoor use, particularly in and around swimming pools, outdoor entertainment areas and indoor wet areas. Whereas most limestones are lighter, creamy shades, Cave’s beautiful Coldstream bluestone limestone pavers are so named due to the dark blue-grey colour, which can contrast beautifully with a deep blue swimming pool or lush green garden design.
Did you know, the term ‘Bluestone’ itself is a misnomer as many countries apply the term based on the colour of a stone, rather than its geological rock type. In America the definition is often determined by region, with the best known variety being Pennsylvania Bluestone, a feldspathic sandstone quarried around Pennsylvania and New York.
In Australia, Bluestone most often refers to basalt or olivine basalt stone like our Bluestone Basalt range. Favoured from the 1850’s gold rush era and quarried from around inner and regional Victoria, significant basalt examples include the old Melbourne Gaol, St Patrick’s Catherdral, Melbourne Grammer School, Princess bridge, Hawthorn bridge and in many cobbled Melbourne CBD lanes. Because of its distinctive qualities, post-modern Melbourne buildings have also made use of nostalgic bluestone basalt, including the Southgate complex and apartments such as the Melbournian.
Sourced from Turkey, our Coldstream range is a unique and exotic stone that must be seen to truly appreciate it’s beauty. Check out the rest of our Travertine and Limestone collection and contact the Cave team today to discuss your project needs.
